University of Indianapolis College of Health Sciences Earns Renewed Top Accreditation

The University of Indianapolis's College of Health Sciences has earned a ten-year renewal of its accreditation, a distinction held by only a portion of health sciences programs nationwide, following a review process that took more than a year to complete.

The accreditation review examined the college's curriculum, faculty research output, and post-graduation employment outcomes, with reviewers specifically praising the college's physical therapy clinical practicum, which places student teams with real Indianapolis-area clinics and hospitals for a full year of supervised clinical work.

"Getting re-accredited isn't just a formality — it forces you to prove that what you're teaching still matches what employers actually need," said the dean of the College of Health Sciences. "The clinical practicum program was one of the things reviewers kept coming back to because it's not just classroom coursework."

The university has steadily grown its graduate health sciences programs over the past several years, adding an occupational therapy doctorate aimed specifically at working professionals in the Indianapolis healthcare sector. School officials said enrollment in the doctoral program has grown by roughly 20 percent since it was restructured to allow hybrid coursework.

University leadership said the renewed accreditation strengthens the college's standing as it competes for regional health sciences students against larger programs at IU and Purdue, both of which draw from a similar pool of Indianapolis-area working professionals.
